1. I picked pen as my medium mostly because I like how it looks in a finished product, and you don't have to worry about color. Also, stippiling, although it takes a while, gives you a lot of control over the exact value in very specific places.
2. Cockroach and violin, I liked the contrast between the connotations of these two objects 3. After deciding exactly what I wanted to draw with the thumbnail sketches, I started to work on the first sketch. Like the final product, I first drew the image I planned in pencil, and then went over it in the medium I was using, stippling. Then, with a better idea of what exactly I was going to do, I drew the final image with pencil.

This activity was really interesting because I learned not only how to set up a pallet and use the paint tools, but also figuring out how to mix colors to create something very specific was fun. It helped me get a feel for paint for the first time.
My new mentor's name is Andy Fraleigh, with a website blog at this link: andy-apex-2018.weebly.com.
The most helpful drawing of this unit for me was the sphere with the different mediums. It was very helpful for getting better at blending, shading realistically, and I learned a lot about the different art tools we have in this class.
Composition- The way the various elements in the picture were arranged in respect to each other Value- The lightness / darkness of a specific area Pen Pros- Sharp, precise lines, high contrast Cons- Cannot erase Charcoal Pros- Easy to blend and erase Cons- Messy, gets everywhere, harder to create high contrast Pencil Pros- Can make sharp lines, erasable, you can use different values Cons- Harder to blend, makes filling in entire areas tricky http://www.annatomix.com/

Annatomix states that she is inspired by nature's connection with the spirit. Annatomix's art really captures my eye because of the dynamic poses she creates using simple geometric shapes. The animals in the artwork look very believable, natural, and appealing, and since I like origami it appeals to me in particular. |
